The Hanging Gardens of Ubud, Bali — ‘Is it Worth it?’
Instagram has become the gem of all things marketing. It’s a platform where businesses can grow by having their customers post pictures online and tagging their location. Within months, everyone is willing to travel and pay just about anything to enjoy the same experience. Are you willing to take that risk at The Hanging Gardens?
Over the past couple of years, a few of our favorite travelers and influencers have gotten the opportunity to travel the world, on some occasions, for FREE. With up to millions of followers, their stunning photos and videos encourages their supporters to do exactly that — follow.
This may be the same case with Hanging Gardens of Bali. I took the risk and traveled far into the forest to see if I, myself, could capture and enjoy those amazing moments.
When I follow my heart, I wake up in Bali. —Unknown
Here’s what you need to know:
- Hanging Gardens of Bali is roughly 40-50 minutes away from city center Ubud.
- There may be monkeys walking around the resort. Remember, you are in the middle of a rainforest.
- Getting to and from can be tricky – Their phone line sometimes doesn’t work to request pickups, cabs may not be readily available to the hotel during busy nights, and narrow roads.
- BE SURE TO READ THE SELECTIONS CAREFULLY. One selection only gives you access to VIEW the pool while the other lets you enjoy the use of the pool. See below or visit their website for more information.

Like many reviews online, I would not consider this to be a 7-star hotel. This advertisement is only misleading and disappointing their visitors. There’s a reason why no one is ever in the background of people’s photos on Instagram – It is way overpriced. You can pay a $35 entrance fee (that will be used towards food and drinks) at any beach club/pool bar and $30 for a 50-minute massage at other places. The view and peacefulness (and taking pictures for Instagram) are what get you suckered in. I did, however, enjoy the little touches – friendly staff, being escorted everywhere, cleanliness, choosing our massage oil, etc.
Was it Worth it?
Although the massage was the best I’ve ever had and the atmosphere was really relaxing, I would only recommend going if it’s a special occasion or you plan to spend the entire day.
*DISCLAIMER: My rating does not include hotel stay or any other amenities provided by Hanging Gardens. I was able to enjoy the pool and spa for a total of 3 hours.
